Participation Process

Regarding the NSRF Programme, requests for participation in an internship cycle are submitted after notice from the Internship Office, at specific dates, at least one month before the beginning of each cycle.

Upon completion of applications, a list of the associated entities is created, along with the internship vacancies they offer for each Department of the University. Students, under the guidance of the Internship Office, choose from the list the entities they wish to be occupied by and address them for the selection process. When the recruitment is complete, the entity should inform the Internship Office so that it can prepare and send the documents required for the initiation of the internship. In all cases, internships start within the first week of each month.

When there is no possibility of funding an internship through the NSRF Programme, however an entity wishes to employ students from the University of Macedonia to implement their practice, it may express its interest to the University of Macedonia Internship Office which then will post a notice.

The funding of the internship is undertaken solely by the host entity, which deposits the compensation for the trainee as a donation to the University. The intern’s insurance (1% against accident at work) is covered by the University (the insurance contributions are deducted from the intern’s remuneration and are attributed to the Social Insurance Institution). The duration of the internship can be between 2 (two) and 6 (six) months and may be extended upon request of the host entity, provided that the latter undertakes the intern’s payment and the total duration of the internship does not exceed a period of 6 (six) months.

When expressing its interest, the entity will be asked to report briefly its profile, the Departments of the University from which it wishes to occupy students, the specific duties that the trainees will undertake during the internship, any expertise that the practitioner is required to have (e.g. foreign language skills, PC literacy, etc.). The entity, if desired, can integrate the above information in the form of a notice, which will then be posted  by the Internship Office. Interested students contact the Internship Office to submit their application and receive the contact information of the entity in order to address them for the selection process. When the recruitment is complete, both the entity and the student should inform the Internship Office so that it can prepare and send the documents required for the initiation of the internship. In all cases, internships start within the first week of each month.
